Women’s Strike at Ghent University on March 8: a walk-out at 15.27

Just like last year we are planning a Women’s Strike at Ghent University on March 8, International Women’s Day, in solidarity with the international women’s movement.

On our website you can find the platform text and petition.

We want to assert our demands with a feminist action on March 8: a walk-out at 15.27, symbolising the general gender pay gap (on average a woman is paid from 8h00 until 15h27 compared to a fully paid full work day of a man).

Students and lecturers are asked to leave their classes and join other staff and sympathizers at the rectorate, where we will hold an open “mic”, with coffee and a 4 o’clock snack.

We kindly ask the university’s administrators and lecturers to support this action and not to penalise staff or students who join us.

Let’s stand together and strike for another university and a more equal and diverse community!

Please join us, sign the petition and share this call to action with your colleagues and students, via e-mail and FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/1045091942304517/
