Institutional Award for Innovation in Internationalisation voor UGent
Op 31 augustus 2017 werd bekend gemaakt dat de Universiteit Gent de prestigieuze “Institutional Award for Innovation in Internationalisation” ontvangt van de European Association for International Education (EAIE). De prijs wordt over twee weken uitgereikt op de jaarlijkse EAIE-conferentie in aanwezigheid van 5000 internationaliseerders van over de hele wereld.

Thursday 31st August 2017, the European Association for International Education (EAIE) announced that Ghent University will receive the prestigious “Institutional Award for Innovation in Internationalisation”. This prize will be awarded in two weeks’ time during the yearly EAIE-conference attended by 5000 internationalisation experts from around the world.
De UGent is reeds lang heel actief op het internationale toneel en is trots hiervoor nu deze mooie erkenning te krijgen. Zowel voor onderwijs als onderzoek worden immers al decennia lang tal van succesvolle internationaliseringsinitiatieven ontplooid. De laatste jaren kreeg het onderwerp ook meer beleidsmatige aandacht, o.m. in het kader van de instellingsreview en door de implementatie van het Geïntegreerd Beleidsplan Internationalisering en de aanstelling van een academisch directeur internationalisering. Steeds meer wordt ook ingezet op het belang van internationalisering voor iedereen binnen onze universitaire gemeenschap. Het onderwerp belangt dan ook iedereen aan.

UGent has a long track record in internationalisation and is proud to receive this nice token of appreciation for it. For both education and research UGent has seen decades of successful internationalisation initiatives. During the last years, this was underlined by an increased focus in its policy, e.g. in the framework of the institutional review and by the implementation of the integrated policy plan for internationalisation and the appointment of an academic director for internationalisation. This goes hand in hand with a broadening perspective, focusing on internationalisation of all members of staff and students. This means it has become an important topic for the whole UGent community.
