CfP: ‘One century of territoriality in the Belgian language legislation: Its origins, evolution and future’ (KUL, 10/03/22)

The Leuven Centre for Public Law is pleased to invite you to participate in the conference entitled ‘One century of territoriality in the Belgian language legislation: Its origins, evolution and future”.

A second part of the conference will consist of parallel sessions, where the application of the territoriality principle in different sectors will be explored. The aim of these sessions is to reflect on the future of language legislation. Does today’s diversity require a more flexible public language policy, or the exact opposite? Because we are aware that these questions cannot be answered by legal practitioners alone, we explicitly invite experts from other disciplines to these parallel sessions, including speakers with a background in translation studies, linguistics, economics, political science, philosophy and sociology.

It takes place on the 10th of March 2022 in Leuven. Hereby attached you will find the call for papers containing more information. We look forward to receiving your abstract (deadline: 15 October 2021).

The organizing committee,

Dr. Jonathan Bernaerts, Marie Bourguignon, Kato Van der Speeten & Jonas Vernimmen (Leuven Centre for Public Law)
