Info en aandachtspunten na aanslagen in Brussel

De UGent betuigt haar medeleven aan de slachtoffers, en hun naasten, van de aanslagen in Brussel. In het kader van de verhoging van het dreigingsniveau in België volgen we de zaak op de voet, samen met de lokale politie.

Vanaf woensdag 23 maart gaan de lessen aan de UGent weer door zoals gepland, tenzij tegenbericht. In dat geval communiceren we opnieuw via deze webpagina, Twitter (#UGent) en Facebook.​

Preventieve maatregelen

De UGent neemt een aantal bijkomende preventieve maatregelen. Daarbij doen we ook een beroep op alle UGent’ers en we brengen volgende tips en aanbevelingen in herinnering:

  • Meld verdachte situaties zoals achtergelaten tassen, rugzakken, koffers, … of verdachte voertuigen (duidelijke omschrijving, kleur, merk, eventueel nummerplaat noteren)
  • Laat geen onbekenden binnen in niet-openbare ruimtes
  • Spreek onbekende personen in UGent-gebouwen aan ("Kan ik u helpen?" "Zoekt u iets?")
  • Meld technische problemen die de veiligheid in het gedrang brengen (defecte sloten, raam dat niet meer kan gesloten worden,…)
  • Draag extra zorg voor sleutels en toegangscontrolebadges – meld verlies onmiddellijk!

Recommendations following terrorist attacks in Brussels

In the context of the increase in the threat level in Belgium, Ghent University guarantees a close follow-up and takes a number of additional preventive measures. 

Starting from Wednesday 23 March, lessons at Ghent University will continue as planned, unless otherwise notified. In that case, we will communicate via Facebook, Twitter (#UGent) and the website of Ghent University.​

Recommendations

We also appeal to you and we draw your attention to the following recommendations:

  • ​Report suspicious situations, such as abandoned bags, backpacks, briefcases, ... or suspicious vehicles (clear description, color, brand, license plate)
  • Don’t let strangers enter non-public areas
  • Address unknown persons in Ghent University buildings ("Can I help you?" "Are you looking for something?")
  • Report technical problems that might affect your safety (defective locks, window that cannot be closed,...)
  • Be extra careful for keys and access badges - report loss immediately!
